Dan Caldwell

Dan Caldwell is currently Distinguished Professor of International Relations at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where he has been a professor since 1978. Prof. Caldwell earned his AB, MA and PhD degrees at Stanford University and a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He has held visiting faculty appointments at the University of Southern California, UCLA and Brown University.

Among the awards that Dr. Caldwell has received are Professor of the Year at Pepperdine University, the Charles and Harriet Luckman Teaching Award, the Pew Faculty Fellowship in International Affairs at Harvard University, and a United States Institute of Peace Fellowship

Prof. Caldwell served for three years on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve and during that time held positions at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and in the Executive Office of the President in Washington, D.C.

Professor Caldwell is the author of American-Soviet Relations, The Dynamics of Domestic Politics of Arms Control, World Politics and You and most recently (with Robert Williams), Seeking Security in an Insecure World, and Vortex of Conflict: U.S. Policy toward Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq. In addition, he has edited four books: Henry Kissinger: His Personality and Policies, Soviet International Behavior and U.S. Policy Options, The Politics of Arms Control Treaty Ratification (with Michael Krepon), and Diplomacy, Force and Leadership (with Timothy McKeown).
