Arthur Cola was born in Chicago in the "little Italy" neighborhood of the near west side of the city. His family moved to Oak Park, IL where he attended Oak Park-River Forest High School. While attending Loyola University, Chicago, he met his future wife, Donna Shields. Together they have five now grown children and six grandchildren. He, his wife and family now live in Wisconsin.

He has been an educator for 35 years. During that time he was a Teacher of History and a School Principal. Upon receiving his Master's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, he also served as a Lecturer for Barry University in Florida. His post graduate work concentrated on Educational administration and theology. He studied in Rome at the Loyola University Campus while conducting research for two of his novels, "The Stone Cutter Genius" and "The Brooch" and traveled extensively in Ireland and Britain researching cultural sites for his "Doonagore Theft Trilogy."

Book one: "Murder in the Abbey."

It's 1964 and Ron de Cenza has decided to enter the priesthood despite his family's wishes. He has been selected by the Church to attend a Latin School in rural Wisconsin along with nine other nontraditional seminarians. As Ron tries to navigate an era of social, religious and sexual revolution he must also adapt from city life to country life. All the while convincing his family that this is his path.

His troubles only deepen once he attends the Abbey and discovers something is amiss. Ron must rely on his newly budding friendships to uncover hidden truths, cover ups, and a potential murder. Will Ron and his friends be able to discover the truth before things turn for the worse?

Murder Mysteries for the Holidays

Austin Macauley Publishing and Authors Reputation Press announce the publications of The De Cenza Murder Mystery series by Chicago born author Arthur Cola. The tales will take you on a thrilling journey as a duo of sleuths find themselves caught up in blackmail, forbidden sex, theft and murder. Arthur Cola informs us that his readers will be taken back to the 1960’s, a time of social, sexual and political unrest not unlike what is taking place today. At the same time it is a period of innocence and idealism for Ron De Cenza, the lead character and his pal Bob Wentz as they begin their journey to become priests and find murders to solve and murderers to catch, temptations to avoid, cultural treasures to save, and subversive organizations to defeat on the way.

Cola tells us that it all begins with “Murder in the Abbey which will be available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble and your local bookstore. It’s 1964, the sexual revolution is on a roll, the Catholic Church is renewing itself and in the heartland of America a family is dealing with the worse news of their life. Their only son has chosen to enter the priesthood. He has broken up with his lovely Jewish girlfriend to enter a new life. He along with nine other non-traditional seminarians is being sent by the Church to a Latin School in rural Wisconsin. There amidst the restriction and rules of the Abbey a murder takes place and Ron must prove his innocence while at the same time avoiding entanglements with a certain girl from Georgia who works at the Abbey Gift Shop.

The adventure continues with “Murder at the World’s Fair.” Ron, his pals and the girl from Georgia are off to be guides at the New York World’s Fair Vatican Pavilion. Instead they find what they think is a battered man on the streets of the city. In their bonding with him they find themselves combatting the underworld, finding a body, rubbing elbows with prelates and Ambassadors in the United Nations, stopping the heist of the century while solving a murder.

Book three is “Murder in the Vatican” which finds Ron and Bob in Rome studying at the Apostolic College when his sister, Jan De Cenza, arrives with Susan Liguri, the girl from Georgia. The girls find themselves helping an injured man collapsing at the Bernini Fountain in St. Peter’s Square while Ron and Bob escape being held by police and protesters who seek to establish a new world order. In the sacred confines of the Vatican they discover a plot to steal priceless treasures of the Renaissance era, get involved with murder and intrigue with the Carabinieri police of Rome as they try to thwart an assassination on Lake Maggiore in the Alps of Switzerland.

The fourth book of the De Cenza Murder Mysteries is “Murder in Mellifont.” Ron and friends are on a research turned quest in Ireland. In the ancient ruins of Mellifont Abbey there chants a Lady in Black. She has come to seek the “Holy Grail” of Ireland. Professor Pettigrew of Oxford University is also seeking this long lost symbol of Irish Heritage and he has as his research assistants Ron and his friends. Soon the blood of innocence runs red on the limestone chancel stone of the ruins and the holiday seekers find themselves embroiled in theft and murder which begins in Trinity College in Dublin and takes them to Slane Castle, the Hill of Tara and Trim Castle as a Chief Inspector is colliding with Ron who kneels in the blood on the chancel stone holding a murder victim.

The fifth book of the De Cenza Murder mysteries is "Murder on Capri". What is intended to be a romantic holiday on the Isle of Capri for Ron and the love of his life, Susan Liguri, Jan De Cenza and her Count of Pianore Alessandro, the Papal Guard Andreas Berne and the Vatican research assistant Dominic Fontana and just a bit of fun for Bob Wentz still on his way to become a priest turns into a nightmare as they discover the naked body of a dead man in the famous Blue Grotto. This leads them to uncover the legend of Joseph Bonaparte, King of Spain, King of Naples and Sicily and brother to Napoleon. They soon lock horns with an old friend, Captain Verdi who is on Capri for his honeymoon and finds himself leading the murder investigation. With Ron in Sherlock mode they soon discover that others would kill to unravel the secret of Bonaparte's autobiography in order to find the lost Crown Jewels of Spain taken by its former King in the early 19th Century.

The 6th book of the De Cenza Murder Mysteries is Murder at Point Breeze. Ron and his friends have uncovered a mystery within the Biography of Joseph Bonaparte. Several questions need to be answered. Primary among them is where are the Crown Jewels of Spain which King Joseph Bonaparte of Spain took when he fled after his brother Napoleon was defeated? Off they go back home to America to follow the clues which would lead them to the answer of that question. Murder however interferes with their investigation. From Lake Bonaparte in New York State to Princeton University to Bordentown New Jersey they unravel the murder while decoding the biography which draws them closer to the legendary jewels. All this as love blooms and wedding bells are faintly heard.
