Basil Sprig

Basil enjoys writing fantasy blended with elements of science fiction seen through the eyes of youthful discovery and triumph over difficulty. He spends his time between computers, exploring the Pacific rain forest right outside his home, teleporting to conventions as a wizard, and inspiring the kids in his community to go beyond their means and reach out to the world with their creativity. Basil loves spending time with kids. He served as a volunteer leader in youth organizations throughout his High School and College years. He’s worked with street youth and staffed at youth shelters since he was a young man. He has also served on the board of directors for a non-profit organization that brings children to the U.S. each summer to get away from the radiation of the Chernobyl disaster. Now he’s a proud parent of a teenage daughter and he and his wife regularly open their home to host exchange students from all over the world. Currently he devotes his energies motivating youth to exercise and explore their creative talents through writing and film production. Basil is passionate about authenticity and relevance in his writing and in addition to sharing his life with them he shares drafts of his novels with kids around the world for feedback before completing each book.
