Renee Thompson

Renee Thompson has worked as a volunteer at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, in South Texas, and at Folsom Zoo Sanctuary, in Folsom, CA. Prior to founding her communications company, Spellchick, where she wrote content and marketing material for companies transitioning from brick-and-mortar to online, she worked as a reporter for Lahontan Valley News, in Fallon, NV. Her essays and short stories have appeared in, or placed in, competitions sponsored by Narrative Magazine, Glimmer Train, Literal Latte, Writer's Digest, Sacramento Magazine, Nevada Magazine, and elsewhere. Her stories have been performed at Stories on Stage/Sacramento, Stories on Stage/Davis, and Why There Are Words, in San Francisco. She is also the author of two novels, The Plume Hunter, which received outstanding endorsements from the national birding community, and The Bridge at Valentine, which Larry McMurtry called "...very original and very appealing," and which the city of Woodland, CA, named their Community Novel of 2014. She's devoted to the people, birds, and mammals she loves.
