Warren B. Causey

Warren B. Causey has been a writer, editor, researcher and consultant for more than 40 years. He is the author of more than 30 published book-length works and hundreds of magazine articles as well as thousands of newspaper articles in many different fields. He has written in true crime, health care, technology, energy, military sciences, history, religion, politics and others. He also had his own research/publishing company, which he sold in 2005 to Energy Central, a multi-media company in Aurora, CO. He currently is a vice president for Strategy, Research & Analysis, at Five Point Partners, LLC, Atlanta, GA, as well as serving as pastor of Oostanaula United Methodist Church, Rome, GA.

Causey started his writing career as a reporter, while still in college, and later editorial page editor at the Clarksville (TN) Leaf-Chronicle and then moved to the Nashville Banner, where he served as a reporter and later assistant night news editor. He also worked with the San Antonio Light (copy editor, morning makeup editor) and WOAI Radio in Texas. He has been an editor, associate publisher and publisher of two different magazines and editor/publisher of several newsletters in different fields. He also served four years as Assistant to the Commissioner at the Tennessee Department of Human Services in the 1970s.

He is retired from the U.S. Army Reserve, where he was a terrain analyst/cartographer with an intelligence detachment and a journalist/historian working with the U.S. Center of Military History. He is a decorated (Bronze Star) veteran of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Causey holds numerous journalism/writing awards including a Gold Award from the Associated Press, a Thomas Jefferson Award from the U.S. Department of Defense, a 1st Place from the Tennessee Newspaper Publisher's Association, a 4th Estate Award from the U.S. Department of the Army and he shares an Addy Award from the American Advertising Association, as well as many others.

He has specialized in writing about major business and computer systems in use the utility industry since the mid-1990s. He was involved in several major computer systems installations in the 1970s and 1980s, and was working on the ARPANET, the military predecessor of the Internet, when it still was a closely guarded military secret.

Causey is a frequent keynoter and speaker at virtually all of the major utility industry conferences, as well as being in demand for specific, contracted advice sessions with utilities and vendors across the industry. He speaks frequently on leading-edge technology in information, distribution and business. He constantly tracks new technology including advanced power-line carrier, composite core transmission and distribution, emerging high-voltage low-heat technologies, business information and artificial intelligence systems, as well as new generation technologies, distributed generation and legislative/regulatory mandates.

Causey founded Warren B. Causey, Ltd. in 1996 and led it to become one of the most respected research/publishing/analysis firms in the utility industry, before merging it with Energy Central.

He is a private pilot and is married with a son, a daughter and one grandson.

He did his undergraduate work at Austin Peay State University, Tennessee State University and Kennesaw University and graduate work at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

He lives with his wife and college-aged son outside Atlanta, GA.
