James Doti earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and served as President of Chapman University for 25 years, guiding its evolution into a nationally recognized institution of academic excellence. He now serves as President Emeritus and Rick Muth Family Chair in Economics. Dr. Doti is the author of “Using Data Analytics to Drive Transformational Change – The Chapman University Model” (Bloomsbury Academic), part of the ACE Series on Higher Education, which explores the innovative leadership and data-driven vision behind Chapman’s remarkable growth. He co-authored “Econometric Analysis with EViews” and “Statistical Analysis with Excel”, and co-edited an award-winning collection on free enterprise.
His acclaimed children’s trilogy includes “A Christmas Adventure in Little Italy”, “Jimmy Finds His Voice”, and “I Love You This Much, Nonna” (a Kirkus Best Book of 2018).
A passionate runner, climber, and cyclist, his latest book, “An Adventure Log,” recounts summiting the Seven Summits, completing Ironman triathlons, and running four Boston Marathons.
