Hello! I am W. Chad McPhail and I have been a writer since birth. Unravel my DNA and you'll find my life story laid out in paragraph form. The McPhail family comes from a long lineage of writers and orators and I am but one of them. I've published poetry, photos, short stories, essays, articles, bios, and books for almost three decades. Search for "W. Chad McPhail" to locate more of my published work with various websites, publishing houses, and some self-published.
Co-author of "Colorado Flyfishing: Where to Eat Sleep Fish," this book is so much more than just a run-of-the-mill fishing guide book. It chronicles a zany, summer-long trek across the Centennial State as Mark D. Williams and I attempt to fish every trout hole possible along the way. Hilarious at times, sad at others, poignant in parts, yet laden with many zingers throughout, you never know what you'll learn when two literary cavemen like us hit the road with trout on the brain.
Also co-author of "49 Trout Streams of Southern Colorado," this book showcases many of my favorite photos of the best fly fishing locales in the southern part of Colorado. Visually my favorite publication to date, "49" makes a perfect coffee table book or gift for anyone who loves fly fishing, wild trout, Colorado, or the outdoors.
"An Introduction to Fly Fishing for Trout" is a pragmatic, pain-free approach to getting new fly fishers on the water and catching trout quickly. Also co-written with Williams, "Intro" is in full-color, a ton of fun to read, and contains loads of descriptive sequence shots and easy-to-follow tutorials for on-the-water tactics and techniques we feel are essential for netting trout.
Currently I am working on a novel, as well as a book of short stories that will include many pieces of artwork created by my younger brother, Ryan Wesley McPhail. I love creating art, and I never get tired of tapping the keys and collaborating with friends and family.
