Steven B. Newman’s perspective as a Veteran brings truth and realism to his writing. He reveals the heart and spirit of our nation’s greatest warriors and shows them for who they really are; the young men and women who grew up next door and went on to become something extraordinary. Steve is a graduate of Columbia College and a published author. He currently resides in Midwest City, Oklahoma where he continues writing screenplays and novels about life as a soldier and helping others, especially veterans, achieve their creative dreams.
Both are military fiction novels inspired by real events about a team of Green Berets in Afghanistan shortly after 9-11. In "The Night Eagles Soared", Mr. Newman reveals the evolution of a Special Forces soldier through the training and missions he went on over the years. The story takes the reader on a journey into the jungles of South America and across the deserts of the Middle East; through the night he compares to the Doolittle raid of WWII. Steve has dubbed it, "The Night Eagles Soared."
In "Burnt Yellow and Red," Mr. Newman takes the reader through the "Battle for Kabul" after the team links up with the Northern Alliance. He introduces the men as the story unfolds by telling it from the perspective of the Air Force Tactical Air Controller who is attached. At first he must earn the men's respect, but in the end he becomes a true member of the Special Forces Brotherhood due to his dedication to the team during a time of war.
The stories shed a positive light on the military and the characters in the stories are not about any one person, but instead reveal the heart and soul of our nation's greatest warriors. Steve's writing has been endorsed by many and he is most proud of the endorsement he received from the Green Beret Foundation.
Steve recently completed his nationwide tour promoting and signing his books at military installations and other venues across the country. His third novel, "Charlie and Mike", is a modern war story about an Air Force Sergeant and her Military Working Dog who join a team of Green Berets in the hunt for a Taliban bomb maker from hell. It is near completion and should be released in 2014!
