Timothy Fitzgerald

Timothy K. Fitzgerald was one of the first born 'baby-boomers' arriving on Jan. 1946. Raised by Middle Class parents in a rural setting 10 miles outside of San Jose, California. His education (K-12) was in the Los Gatos Union schools, where he was an active leader in the Boy Scout program for 10 years, and competitive in Track and Cross Country as a youth.

He attended San Jose State University for his undergraduate degree - changing major objectives three times before graduating in Aug. 1971 in business and economics. Drawn to the prominent Civil Rights Movement on campus by radical spokespersons like Harry Edwards and Tommie Smith, he led the campus to adopt the principles of the Port Huron Statement as authored by Tom Hayden in 1962.

An emotional collapse following the Cambodia Invassion in South East Asia led to failure in traditional career employment, in the process leading to interest in Western Institutions and an intense effort for four more degrees (a BA in History, and two Masters in Social Science subjects, plus a recent success with a Masters in Philosophy).

He has taught periodically in community colleges in Central California in the last decade, and at times worked as a substitute teacher in selected high schools in the prior decade. In this process he became a scholar of Western Thought and ideas while lending his knowledge to the Green Party of California over the span of the 15 years.

He first wrote accounts of the Sixties in the late 70s, completing a Thesis archived with Universal Micro-films, Inc, and considered an authority on San Jose State Campus history in the 60s by scholars and faculty at the University.

Setting down 'Letters to the Editor' in the early 80s adding to it for the next two decades before self-publication by AuthorHouse in 2004. Thereafter, at the urging of others, he drafted a trilogy: "The Quest:Revolution, Revelation, Redemption," a series of Memoirs grounded in American Social History of the working class in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the most recent decade, and crafted to read like historical novels to which they have been likened.

A detailed unexpected ADDENDUM is in production, to outline Tim's spiritual foundations which developed strongly in the last 15 to 20 years. This last work culminating a journey of over 50 years on the West Coast in NOrthern California in the last century. A former rock climber and wilderness photographer of Yosemite Valley, the final work traces his spiritual path leading to an awakening and unexpected Revelations and Enlightenment in his work as a scholar of Economic Theory practice.

He has been a leading spokesperson in his community for over 45 years, advocating causes for the disabled, disadvantaged and working poor. Recently running for State Assembly and placing 3rd out of 6 and losing a role in the run-offs of the General Election. An authority on Politics, Economics, and History - as well as Modern Philosophy, as writer and educator of over twenty years, he can be reached through his WEB PAGE at www.timfitzgerald.org.
