Dewar MacLeod

Dewar MacLeod is Professor of History at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, specializing in popular culture, American Studies, and U.S. foreign policy.

His most recent book is “Tommy," Trauma, and Postwar Youth Culture about The Who’s classic rock opera album/movie/musical.

He is the author of Making the Scene in the Garden State: Popular Music in New Jersey from Edison to Springsteen and Beyond and Kids of the Black Hole: Punk Rock in Postsuburban California, the first study of punk by a professional historian. He is singer/guitarist for Thee Volatiles, the greatest punk rock band in Montclair, New Jersey. He co-owned Legacy Coffee (RIP) in Montclair, New Jersey with his daughter, the artist Sinéad MacLeod. Dewar MacLeod is a 4th degree Black Belt Master in Taekwon-do. He lives Montclair, New Jersey and Sante Fe, New Mexico.
