Kevin Benton

Kevin Benton attended Jules Mastbaum High School in Philadelphia, PA. where he graduated. While at Mastbaum, Kevin lettered (3) years in varsity basketball earning the 1990 Philadelphia Public League Player of the Year, Joint Effort All-American (U.S.A. vs. Colorado) and Sportsmanship awards as a senior. While playing in the All-Star classic in Colorado, he participated in a slam dunk contest that also featured former W.N.B.A., Los Angeles Sparks Star, Lisa Leslie, who was the only female in the competition.

Kevin earned a full athletic scholarship to play Division I basketball at the University of Delaware where he attended college for (2) years. Sensing the call of God on his life, he left his scholarship situation at Delaware to attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. where he also played basketball for the team and earned his Associates of Arts degree in Psychology and his Bachelors of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Liberty University is the world's largest Evangelical Christians Schools, founded by the late, great Chancellor, Rev. Dr. Jerry Falwell. Liberty's basketball team made history in 1994-1995 by being the first Christian School to ever play in the NCAA tournament against another Philadelphia native and friend, Rasheed Wallace and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Upon leaving Liberty, Kevin had also had the opportunity to play professional basketball in Europe and in Asia, among a host of other countries that he played in. While playing in China, during the leagues Christmas celebration, Kevin had the opportunity to meet and to be featured on the front page of the Chinese newspaper shaking hands with his favorite martial artists, actor and the leagues special guest, Jackie Chan.

Kevin was also invited to some N.B.A. summer camps during his career, including the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played against multiple N.B.A. Champions, the late, great Kobe Bryant and Rick Mahorn. Other N.B.A. players included Jerome Allen former Minnesota Timberwolves, Paul "Snoop" Graham, former Atlanta Hawks, Shawn Harvey, former Dallas Mavericks and a host of many other great professional basketball players. Along with these experiences, during the summers Kevin also participated in a host of missions trips overseas with Athlete n' Action and the Christ Crusaders.

Kevin was invited on the CBS News Early Show hosted by Susan Koeppen , which aired nationally. As the only former professional athlete in the group, he participant in the Power*Balance Performance Technology Energy Band Exercise Experiment, at The Sports Complex at the Chelsea Piers in New York City. The experiment was done by none other than the world's leading mind reader, mentalist and myth buster, Steve Banacheck. N.B.A players and professional athletes in various different sports wear these wrist bands to give themselves the much needed edge. The experiment was conducted to test the authenticity of the bands. The experiment was a lot of fun but the results were very, very interesting.

Kevin was also featured on the FOX 29, 10 o'clock News as a camp counselor, working a well respected Basketball Camp that helps kids. The name of the camp was called the Germantown Friends Basketball, Reading, Computer Summer Camp.

Kevin is currently employed by the City of Philadelphia's Department of Human Services as a Recreational Specialty Instructor/Child Care Social Worker and really, really loves his job. Approaching his job with seriousness, especially due to all the horrific things that are happening to our children in today's society, he gets the opportunity to protect, share, influence and shower them with unconditional love. In this same process, he provides professional services for children and youth, who have been abandoned, neglected, mistreated, homeless and/or have misbehaved. He also provides professional services for their families as well.

Kevin is an awesome persuasive speaker and communicator who invokes deep personal thought from his readers and listeners. Kevin has been invited as a guest on numerous national and international T.V. and radio stations and has traveled around the country to do speaking engagements, workshops and book signings. Kevin is honored that his bestselling book, "A Field Trip to Hell" was accepted as a Philosophy and Religion resource in the Parkway Central Library, which is not only one of the largest free libraries in Philadelphia but also one of the top three libraries in the city. In Kevin's awesome book, readers will, surprisingly despite the title, be encourage and be inspired by his personal story of trails, troubles and tribulations, (or what we sometimes refer to as having gone through "hell" in our personal lives), that continuously leads to triumph. Afterwards, in a fictional and non-threatening way, he informs readers by taking them on a very descriptive tour of the afterlife underworld called Hell, where they can experience the 30 revealed torments of Hell firsthand, without having to stay for eternity. He has an awesome personal testimony that is sure to move and motivate everyone and really enjoys talking about his topically unusual, thought provoking book.

Along with continuing to write, Kevin's heart's desire is to use his faith and example to bring hope, help and healing to the lives of people in general, but especially today's youth. Kevin has a burden for the lost and a compassion for the misfortunes, the pain and the sufferings of other people as he sets out to do his part to be a light in a dark and dying world. Kevin has a great outgoing personalities and posses many gifts, talents and abilities that he uses to help the world, especially when he is on set Acting.
