Becky is an award-winning journalist who has written for the Chicago Sun-Times, the Detroit News, USA TODAY, and the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester, New York. Her first experience with balancing motherhood and career happened in 2001, when she called her editor to discuss a story—while en route to the hospital to give birth to her first child. She now works in communications at the University of Chicago Law School, where she is surrounded by creative, supportive colleagues who make her think—and laugh—every day.
After the initial publication of Good Enough is the New Perfect in 2011, Becky and her co-author, Hollee Schwartz Temple, traveled the country speaking about motherhood and work/life balance. They wrote the work/life balance column for the American Bar Association Journal from 2009-2013.
Becky has been happily married for more than 22 years to Pete Gillespie, an employment litigator. They live in Chicago with their two daughters, Beth and Katie, and their cats, Viper, Dawn, and Mabel.
