Walker Newton was born in Tampa, Florida, but left his birthplace at an early age and spent a great deal of his life traveling. His most recent trips took him to Ecuador, China, Pakistan, Mexico, and Cuba. He has just returned from trips to Turkey, Colombia, and the San Blas Islands in Panama. In all, he has visited over seventy countries.
Newton served in the United States Navy as a submariner before receiving a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from Murray State University. After three years of teaching in a Kentucky juvenile detention facility, he entered the real estate field and worked in all of its facets in many cities throughout the United States. He and a partner eventually formed their own hotel development company. When that company sold, he retired to northeast Florida where he writes and remains actively involved in real estate.
Walker Newton is the father of twin daughters and he has two grandchildren. He currently resides on Anastasia Island, near St. Augustine, Florida. He remains an enthusiastic domestic and international traveler, and continues to write both songs and fiction. His most recent novel is "The Blinding Tide". This work is the fifth in the Sand Crab Chronicles series.
During happy hour, visitors to the bars of St. Augustine Beach will meet the locals that are the inspirations for Walker's wacky characters. They are also very likely to meet Walker Newton. He will be either on stage playing his original songs, or just having drinks with his friends. Step up and introduce yourself.
Newton recently managed to repurchase the rights to his earlier novel, "Tracks". This coming of age and domestic travel novel is now available on Amazon and kindle.
