Paul Fanning

Paul Fanning is a retired academic specialising in the teaching of the English language to speakers of other mother tongues. Since 1971, he has taught English, mostly at university level, in Zambia, Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Spain and Britain (Middlesex University). Paul lives in the town of Reading in England, but maintains links with East Africa, where he still has some professional contacts, and Spain, where the eldest of his five children (Noelle) resides. His main activity in retirement is thinking and writing about the linguistic problems that English continues to give to learners who already have a fairly advanced competence. He regularly seeks to share his thoughts and experiences in this area through a thriving blog that he maintains under the name of "Gunlist" at http:/guinlist.wordpress.com.
