David Cawley

Living in the shadow of witch bothering Pendle Hill on the border of Lancashire and Yorkshire, David Cawley is a freelance writer specialising in British and European Travel & History.

A graduate of Liverpool University he opted to spend his studenthood joyfully scrambling amongst the vermin and detritus of derilict Victorian canals and factories to achieve his degree in Industrial Archaeology. 'Some undergraduates I knew took off on summer long field trips to study the ancients of Mexico, Egypt, Iran, Italy and Greece. I used to spend the odd day in Widnes recording 19th century sluice gates.'

Together with guide books, print and online articles, his ongoing compulsion with canals sees him currently researching a travel book before setting off on, 'a courageous Homeric odyssey, by narrowboat.'
