Brian Lee Weakland

Brian Lee Weakland is a native of Altoona, Pennsylvania, and an honors graduate of Penn State's School of Journalism.

He won the Associated Press Community News Reporter Award and Keystone Press Award for investigative reporting as a staff writer and news editor for The Centre Daily Times in State College, Pennsylvania. He has taught writing courses at Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh. Brian's work has been published in numerous national journals.

Brian received the Award of Merit from the Kinzua Foundation for his debut novel, Tonight in the Rivers of Pittsburgh, first book of his Rivers of Pittsburgh Mystery Trilogy. He is an award-winning screenplay writer as well, capturing grand prize wins in the 2012 Hollywood Screenplay competition and the 2012 New York Screenplay Contest. Brian also was won the 2012 Virginia Screenplay Writer Award, sponsored by the Virginia Film Office.

Brian resides in Richmond, Virginia, and is a proud member of James River Writers, the nation's premier authors' group, and the Virginia Screenwriters Forum.
