Gerald Lane Summers is a retired lawyer, writer and teacher with over thirty years service within the justice system of California. His work as a police officer, probation officer, juvenile court referee, grand jury foreman, amateur historian and writing instructor have uniquely qualified him to write about the old west, police work and the justice system in general. When not writing, he studies science and legal history.
Both of Mr. Summers' first two books, historically based western action adventures, have received high ratings by reviewers on Amazon averaging 4.4 to 4.7 stars. They are: "Mobley's Law," and "Curses," both Mobley Meadows novels. The third and final book in this triolgy, "Mobley's War," has just been released and is available now both in softback and on Kindle. (NOTE: WORLDWIDE, MOBLEY'S LAW ALONE HAS RECEIVED MORE THAN 3100 REVIEWS WITH AN AVERAGE RATING OF 4.9 stars.)
"The ACCIDENTAL COP" a police procedural novel is partially based on Mr. Summers's career with the El Cajon Police Dept. (He holds the record for crashing patrol cars there.) When a young child is found in the roots of a fallen tree on the grounds of the San Diego Mission de Alcala, he and his team of detectives must solve a twelve year old murder.
Mr. Summers' fifth novel, "The Scent of a Red Candle," is his second Ben Colder police detective novel. In this story, he must deal with a band of highly intelligent neurons who have taken over a man and turned him into a serial killer.
His sixth novel, "Billy Brand and The Countess," was originally released in 2015 as "Charming Billy," and came out in revised edition in August, 2020. It is an historical military romance about Billy Brand, VC who fought as a Spitfire pilot during the Battle of Britain and suffers from PTSD. Thirty years later, he returns to Britain to face his demons and reestablish his relationship with Countess Moira Sinclair-Lewis. While in Britain, he discovers a plot to take over the Countess's estate by scoundrels associated with the Bank of England.
Mr. Summers' most recent novel, (his seventh) is called "U.S.S. Kepler Dawn." It is a science fiction story of man's first attempt to colonize a planet in the Kepler 186 system. It is currently in the hands of a renowned publishing company. A follow-up to this novel will be called, "The Wanderer," a sequel to the U.S.S. Kepler Dawn to be published next year.
