John J. Curry

John Curry received his Ph.D. in History from The Ohio State University in 2005. He presently is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he has taught since 2006. His first book, "The Transformation of Muslim Mystical Thought," is the product of three years of research conducted in the manuscript libraries and archives of the Turkish Republic. He is editing a forthcoming volume on Sufism with Erik Ohlander entitled "Sufism and Society," due to appear in the latter half of 2011, and has just finished translating the manuscript of the Ottoman geographer and intellectual Katip Chelebi as part of a team of translators.
