Lin Tull Cannell

Lin Tull Cannell was always curious about how America's West -- where she was born and bred -- came to be as it is. She combined her analytical training with her experience as a freelance, non-fiction writer in order to discover and share history of European settlement of the interior Northwest. She has written on William Craig's role as liaison to Gov. Isaac Stevens for the University of Washington's Pacific Northwest Quarterly. In The Intermediary: William Craig Among the Nez Perces, Lin has revealed not only little known facts about one of Idaho's earliest settlers, but important elements of Northwest history.

The second edition of The Intermediary, published in November 2018, includes an Index, which makes the work an invaluable tool for study and research at all academic levels. The Archivist at Nez Perce National Historical Park, in the new Foreward for the 2d edition, writes that the book "has contributed to a more complete perspective of people and events responsible for shaping this part of local, regional, national, and international history."
