Tim Palmer

I am Professor of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where I research and teach classes in film history. I hold an MA for Research in Film and Television Studies from Warwick University, England, and a Ph.D in Communication Arts (Film Program) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.

My work has appeared in many journals, such as Cinema Journal, Journal of Film and Video, The French Review, Studies in French Cinema, New Review of Film and Television Studies, and Film International. I've also published in a number of anthologies, such as The Cinema of France; Framing the World: Studies in Ecocriticism and Film; Le Cercle rouge: Lectures croisées; and France at the Flicks: Trends in Contemporary French Cinema. I'm also a co-founding co-Editor-in-Chief of Film Matters, the world's first peer-reviewed film journal for undergraduate students, published quarterly by Intellect Press.

I teach a wide range of classes, including Contemporary French Cinema, the French New Wave, American Cinema 1927-1960, Introduction to World Cinema, Introduction to French Cinema, and many others. Students in my classes regularly publish their work, and also act as programmers of film festivals at the UNCW.

Currently, I divide my time between England (where I was born), Wilmington and Paris.
