Roby Dean-Blest

In today's uncertain world of war and global conflict, Roby is qualified to write for children and families whose home-lives have been turned upside down due to the ravages of delayed stress. Being raised in a non-traditional and very unstable family situation throughout the 1970's and early 1980's, the stage was set early in her life to build a "war-chest" of memories. These experiences became the fodder which inspired her to write about the issues explored in her children's resource story,

"Simon's Magical Melody".

As the daughter of a Vietnam combat veteran diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder or "PTSD", she is deeply familiar with being exposed to its effects second-hand. Military and veterans' kids are not immune to their parents' delayed stress after they come home from a war-zone. The changes (in many veterans’ behavior) inevitably bleed out on the home-front, impacting their family's dynamics.

As of 2025, Roby lives in Florida with her husband of 26 years and has 2 grown children.
