Joseph Macaluso a Certified Cost Professional with over twenty five years of experience estimating, reviewing budgets, and negotiating contract change orders of multimillion dollar projects for several New York City and New York State agencies.
His most recent book is Understanding Construction Costs: How to Review Estimates, authored by Joe and edited by Mary Greene. It's available at Amazon.com in print and e-book formats. Other collaborations have included contributing chapters to the Wiley books, Green Building: Project Planning & Cost Estimating, Building & Renovating Schools, and assisting with the editing of the RS Means Estimating Handbook.
Besides estimating his other experience includes preparing executive level construction schedules, and contract administration, managing a large contractor qualifications unit. Other activities have included chairing the New York Inter-agency Engineering Council and the Government & Public Works Group of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE). In 2008 he was awarded the AACE Technical Excellence Award. Joe has also enjoyed teaching construction cost estimating at Long Island University, and the City University of New York.
