Dulce Rodrigues

Dulce Rodrigues was born in Lisbon, but wound up living in other countries around Europe. She is the proud mother of twin sons, and the happy grandmother of two sweet little girls.

Dulce Rodrigues was awarded literary prizes in the US and in Europe, and in addition to writing, she enjoys travelling, gardening, photography, music, and pets - the source of inspiration for most of her children's books and plays, and for the website in four languages www.barry4kids.net she created specially for children around the world to learn with fun.

Dulce Rodrigues has authored fifteen children's books published in several languages (including Chinese), two travelogues, and a novel. She speaks six living languages and translates most of her own books. She took a university course in Languages and Literatures in Lisbon, and she received a scholarship to study at the Goethe-Institut in Germany, and one for a scientific course with the Open University in the UK. Now retired after a career that included working for NATO and as a translator for the U.S. Military. She was awarded a few literary prizes: while the Honourable Mention awarded at the 2013 Hollywood Book Festival came from the US, eight other prizes came from Europe, including Honourable Mention at the 2013 London Book Festival. A few of her kids' plays were performed in countries in Europe.
