Mark Jones

Mark Jones was born the day the Beatles' first single reached its highest point in the charts. He spent the 1960s listening to British R&B and Tamla, before getting stuck on progressive rock. He writes about music, relational database design and a knitting-crazed, milk stout-drinking, elderly, tabby cat named Tabitha Miggins. He has had articles published by 'The Rough Guide', 'Record Collector' and various academic and railway journals.

He must be doing something right because since 2014, each of his recorded music history books has been nominated for ARSC Excellence Awards, three books being finalists, and two winning outright:

'The Immediate Discography' won the Best Research in Recorded Rock Music Award in 2017.

‘The British Classical Record Industry, 1945 to 1959: Fidelity and Formats’ was a Finalist for the Best Historical Research in Recorded Classical Music Award in 2021.

‘The Famous Charisma Discography’ (2nd Ed.) won the Best Historical Research on Record Labels Award in 2022.
