Karl Joseph Eckstein

Karl Joseph Eckstein was born in New York City in 1939. He is the author of several science-fiction and action adventure books, plus two ‘How to Write’ manuals.

Nature and adventure have always been an integral part of his life. Throughout his younger years, he explored underground caverns, hiked along trails in the forests of the Catskills and Adirondack Mountains, climbed the Englewood Cliffs of New Jersey, and walked through the remains of old forts and abandoned buildings. He also enjoyed visiting interesting historic sites and museums in and around New York.

As an adult, his experiences have included repelling out of Marine Corps helicopters, climbing the slopes of active volcanoes, skin and scuba diving in Hawaii, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Florida Keys, and the Caribbean islands.

After completing a four year tour of active duty, Karl and his wife Zelda traveled throughout the southwest United States and portions of Mexico, where they toured underground cavern systems, visited abandoned Anasazi cliff dwellings and climbed ancient Maya pyramids. They have hiked through the mysterious El Yunque rain forest of Puerto Rico and toured old forts, castles, and citadels in the Caribbean Islands.

During his years as a wildlife photojournalist, Karl has canoed through Florida’s pristine, crystal clear waterways, waded into portions of the Everglades, and hiked or paddled through alligator and snake infested swamplands. He and his wife now reside in Northern Florida, close to Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp, which is the setting of his latest book, Beastly Tales of the Okefenokee.

His stories are works of fiction, however, many of them take place in actual locations in which he has either visited or resided. Besides spending untold hours of research into the historical facts and technical information necessary to authenticate his stories, he also taps into his own background when writing the manuscripts for his action-adventure novels.

In the self help genre, he has published two informative writer's manuals in the E-book format: How To Write Exciting and Believable Science Fiction and Action-Adventure Stories, and Creating Fiery Fiction.
