Martin Plimmer is a London based journalist who has worked the length and breadth of Fleet Street and was once almost run over by Robert Maxwell's Rolls Royce. His work has appeared in the Observer, Sunday Times, Guardian, Independent, London Evening Standard, Tatler, YOU magazine, Bon Appétit, Salon and the New York Times. He has written jokes for Leader of the House of Commons Margaret Beckett and a weekly Independent column about cartoonists. Something he wrote once appeared on the Brain of Britain Contest as the obvious mistake.
He was half of the 90s comedy duo The Men Who Know, whose topical satire appeared in the Times and the Guardian and a weekly column in the Observer news pages. The Men were regulars on BBC Radio 4's magazine programme Loose Ends and performed live at the National Theatre, Ilkley Pizza House and all stations in-between.
He scripted and presented many BBC Radio 4 programmes, including the series Beyond Coincidence, which became a book, co-written by Brian King.
He has three children and cooks elaborate meals. He is generally polite but can be loud on a Saturday night. He loves country music, even though there is only one good track on every album. He is the subject of a lifetime ban by the Youth Hostels Association.
