Arnold Benz

Professor Arnold Benz (Institute for Astronomy at ETH Zurich, Switzerland) is an internationally known expert in the dynamics of the solar and stellar atmospheres. He has studied star and planet formation using ESA and NASA satellites. Former President of Division II of the International Astronomical Union and the Swiss of Astrophysics and Astronomy. Broadcaster on Swiss, German and Austrian radio and television. He is best known to the general public for his book on “The Future of the Universe” (published in 10 languages), relating astrophysics and faith. Together with the theologian Samuel Vollenweider, he wrote "Mission to Saturn – The Story of a Debate About Science and God" (2022), which presents a fictitious dialogue between a scientist and a theologian in a sci-fi setting. It attracted the attention of experts. Honorary degrees from the University of Zurich and the University of the South (Sewanee, TN, USA) for interdisciplinary work in science and religion ("Astrophysics and Creation", 2017).
