I can't not write, but I can't just write either. I get smarter with the smart ones and dumber with myself alone. Almost all my books are about encounters. Most of them take place in theatre, the visual arts or are about the East. "Empowerment East" and "Occupy History" show a different view of German reunification. My book "Leben auf Probe" leads into the hinterland of theatre, as do "Haupteingang oder Nebeneingang" or "Der Gebärdensammler". Books like "Hybrid Theatre", "The Living Exhibition" or "The New Infinity" describe how art is changing in the digital age and how exhibitions are becoming living organisms. Transformation is also the subject of books such as "Down to Earth. Blueprints for a Culture of Sustainability", "Changes" and "Limits of Knowing", which reflect on how climate change, digital culture and identity politics are changing cultural institutions.
