Helmut W. Pesch

Helmut W. Pesch, born in 1952, discovered fantasy literature at the age of sixteen and is still fascinated by it today. He studied English language and literature, art history, and classical archaeology in Cologne and Glasgow and wrote the first German-language doctoral dissertation on fantasy literature (1982). After several years as an academic researcher and teacher in linguistics, he worked as an editor and director in the book and e-book publishing industry for more than three decades. He has also written several fantasy novels for young adults. As a linguist and literary scholar, he has focused primarily on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien and his invented languages. His books on "Elvish" were bestsellers in Germany. He has also translated works by and about Tolkien and other fantasy authors.
