Meshack Asare

Meshack Asare is one of Africa's most celebrated authors of children's literature. His books have earned multiple awards, among them the UNESCO First Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature in the Service of Tolerance, the Noma Award for Publishing in Africa, and the Toyota/Children's Literature Foundation Best Picture Story Book Illustrator's award.

Born in Ghana, Asare studied Fine Arts at the College of Art in Kumsai and later spent many years teaching in Ghana. He has also lived in the United States, England and Germany, and travels frequently throughout Africa, looking to experience as many African cultures as possible, so as to represent them in his stories.

Two of Asare's works are now available in digital format for the first time, on the Amazon Kindle store - through the Worldreader library. Worldreader is a non-profit organization committed to delivering digital books to children and families in the developing world using e-reader technology.
