Siegfried Weyerer

Siegfried Weyerer (www.siegfried-weyerer.de), born in Traunstein (Germany), has studied psychology and sociology at the Universities of Munich and Salzburg and received his Ph.D. ("summa cum laude") in 1976. He is professor of epidemiology and head of the Research Group "Psychiatric Epidemiology and Demographic Change" at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim (Germany). He has conducted many national and international studies on the epidemiology of dementia, depression and substance use disorders at different care levels (community, primary care practices, in- and outpatient care). He is also an expert in health/nursing services research. Professor Weyerer has published more than 500 scientific articles/book chapters and authored and co-authored numerous books. He is cofounder and -editor of the book series "Gerontology" of Kohlhammer publisher.
