Ronald C. Flores

Ronald C. Flores-Gunkle is a writer, editor, photographer and artist who works from his mountaintop home in the shadow of El Yunque Rainforest. He arrived in Puerto Rico in 1960 to study Spanish at The University of Puerto Rico. He fell in love with the island and returned after completing graduate degrees at Penn State. His first career was as professor and dean at Turabo University (now Ana G. Mendez University), the University of Puerto Rico and the International Institute of the Americas of World University. He joined publisher Casiano Communications in 1984 and served as Managing Editor of Caribbean Business, Founding Editor of Puerto Rico Travel & Tourism magazine, Executive Editor of Casiano Movie Magazine and Vice President and Editorial Director of ¡Qué Pasa! magazine. He retired in 2015 to create and publish fiction, poetry and essays.
