Shegitu Kebede Kiflom

Shegitu has devoted her life to making a difference in her community and the world around her. Despite obstacles she still continues to fulfill her passion in aiding others. Shegitu has provided jobs for 38 women since starting her own cleaning business in 2003. In addition, she runs a one-woman non-profit organization that helps women, many of them immigrants. Recently, Kebede and restaurateur Frewoini Haile opened the Flamingo Restaurant near the corner of St. Paul's University Avenue and Syndicate Street.

Shegitu Kebede (Kiflom) was born in Ethiopia. She now lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her family. Shegitu is an author and a community activist within the East African community.
