Cindy A. Gassiot

I began my career in medical staff services in 1970 and have held the position of Director of Medical Staff Services in several hospitals in Texas and Florida. I was a medical staff services consultant for a few years but now enjoy teaching medical staff services full-time for El Centro College. I am a Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). I have written several other books on medical staff services science and was instrumental in founding the Certified Professional Medical Services Manager examination, which was first offered in 1981.

I am a past president of the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as well as co-founder and charter president of the Texas Society for Medical Staff Services. I served on the NAMSS Board of Directors for six years and was a member of both the Certification and Education Councils. I wrote a column for the NAMSS publication, OverView (now called Synergy), for several years. I was the first recipient of the Golden Key Award by NAMSS for contributions made to the Certification Program. The Texas Society for Medical Staff Services also honored me by establishing a scholarship award in my name.

I live in San Antonio, Texas with my husband John.
