George R. Zepp penned the local history column "Learn Nashville," which enjoyed an eight-year run in Nashville's "The Tennessean" newspaper. The column ran each Wednesday in the newspaper's Local News section from 2002 through 2007, then into early 2010 in the Life section.

The topics for it, many of them little-known by most Nashvillians, were suggested by readers from across the country. Many of the best are included in Zepp's 2009 book "Hidden History of Nashville," in its 5th printing at least and still of interest in 2023. The book also has 65 photographs.

Zepp's career in journalism spanned more than 33 years, the majority spent at "The Tennessean" as an editor and columnist, and earlier as a bureau chief in Clarksville, TN, and a reporter. He received a degree from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville in 1972.

In addition to his newspaper work, Zepp has contributed his local history research and writing to another book on Nashville history, as a contributing author to the history/photo book "Nashville Yesterday and Today," released in July 2010 by Publications International Ltd. of Chicago.

He currently lives in the 1880 British-founded village of Rugby, TN, on the Cumberland Plateau. Also find him on Facebook under "Hidden History of Nashville."
