Fount Lee Shults

Dr. Shults is known as "Brother Fount" by his students. He believes in maintaining a peer relationship with those he teaches. In his study of Hebrew Language and culture he found one of his favorite quotes from rabbis: "Melamed melumad mitalmidav" which is translated, "the teacher is taught by his students."

He taught Bible and Theology on college campuses for 40 years. The Gospel of John has been "home base" for his personal Bible study as well as teaching. Having taught through the Gospel of John at least 35 times, he has a depth of insight beyond what you generally find even in commentaries. His focus has always been finding ways to use John's stories to transform the lives of his students. His focus is transformation, not information.

Fount Shults earned a PhD in the Hebrew Language and Literature from The University of Texas at Austin, Texas. He is more of a linguist than a theologian, but his grasp of the nature of language and interpretation gives him tools to see beyond the surface of the text. He uses those tools to lure the reader into a relation with the one about whom the text is speaking. The reader is invited into the place Jesus prepared for us in the bosom of the Father's love.
