Sitting here at my computer and happy to find myself in the 78th year of my life (and now a widower to boot), I'm currently preparing Kindle editions of the various novels -- both New York published and unpublished -- that I've written over the decades.
My first novel, "Halo," is now available in Kindle format, as well as a used paperback that was originally published by Pocketbooks in the late 80's. If you purchase a used paperback, I won't see a dime for my efforts, which is okay because I want you to read my stuff, but given that I might starve without any Kindle sales... there, guilt trip attempt!
My second novel, "The Hacker" is also available in Kindle format, as well as a used paperback that was, again, published by Pocketbooks in the late 80's. One obviously delusional vendor is even selling a new copy of "The Hacker" for several hundred dollars. Whoa! Again, though, if you purchase a used paperback, I won't see a dime for my efforts, which is okay because I want you to read my stuff, but given that I might starve without any Kindle sales...
The Kindle edition of my third and quite creepy novel, "Cordova's Girl," was published on June 1, 2018.
In 2024, I revisited my imaginary Christopher School and completed a long-requested prequel to my classic underground novel, "Halo." Entitled "Counselor," this novel tells the story of a young woman with multiple personalities who is hired by the school to provide mental health therapy to Christopher's students. Oh oh!
In March of 2025, I finally completed "Ellen: a Memoir of Love, Life, and Grief." In this autobiographical work, I share the stories of my almost 48 years of marriage to the lovely Ellen Schoenberger Day as well as how I somehow managed to thrash my way through a briar patch of unrelenting grief for several years before finally coming out relatively intact, and, in fact, wiser for living through that pain.
My latest project represents a new direction in my writing career. I've partnered with Claude (Anthropic's AI) to create the Lost Pages series—what I call "documentary fiction." These books combine rigorously researched historical facts with imagined voices that bring those facts to life. Think of it as the literary equivalent of a Ken Burns documentary: every major claim is documented and cited, but the human voices, internal thoughts, and emotional truths are crafted to make the research accessible and compelling. Claude helps me structure the research, maintain consistency across multiple character voices, and avoid repetitive phrasing—but the vision, the arguments, and the authentic personal testimony are entirely mine. This collaboration allows me to tackle complex, research-intensive projects that would have taken years to complete working alone. "The Higher Power Lie" is Volume 9 in this series, and I'm already deep into Volume 10.
