Dr. Suzanne B. Phillips is a licensed Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, Diplomat in Group psychotherapy and Fellow in the American Group Psychotherapy Association. She is Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Doctoral Program of Long Island University, Brookville Campus,and faculty of the Postdoctoral Programs of the Derner Institute of Adelphi University and The Suffolk Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. As a psychologist, she has worked with individuals, groups and couples for over 30 years. In the aftermath of trauma, she has provided direct service to civilians and uniformed responders, trained other professionals, published on bereavement, trauma, uniformed services and couples.In February 2008, as a representative of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, she testified before Congress for the needs of military and their families.As Co-Chair of the Community Outreach Task Force of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, she has offered trauma training nationally and internationally through skype in response to the China earthquake and the terrorist attack in Mumbai India. She presented to Italian psychologists after the Earthquake in Italy in 2009. She has published three books and over 20 articles. Her books include:The Therapist's Pregnancy: Intrusion Into the Analytic Space co-authored with Sheri Fenster and Estelle Rapoport( Analytic Press,1986); Pulic Mental Health Service Delivery Protocols: Group Interventions for Disaster Preparedness and Response co-edited with Robert Klein( American Group Psychotherapy Association, 2008) and Healing Together: A Couple's Guide to Coping With Trauma and Post-traumatic Stress co-authored with Dianne Kane( New Harbinger Press, 2008). Dr. Phillips writes an on-going blog " Healing Together For Couples" for PsychCentral. On June 8,2010 she appeared on Good Day New York to discuss a blog she wrote that attracted thousands of readers entitled " Can Pets Improve Your Relationship?"
