Gene Howell

Gene Howell was born in Australia in 1952. His family were all born in India, his Grandfather (on his mother's side) traveled with Lord Mountbatten (last Viceroy of India) during the time India was preparing for Independence. His Grandfather on his father's side was Police Commissioner of India, and has a fascinating history of infiltrating the Indian Thugees Society at risk of his life to identify those involved and arrest them. With this background, it is no wonder that Gene grew up listening to stories of India.

Gene has carried on this tradition in a different way. Finding books to keep his two boys interested, and to read to them at bedtime, proved difficult once he had gone through the usual Disney collection - so he started making up stories for each of the boys where they were the hero in the story. Sometimes the stories lasted 3 months, but each night ended on a note of suspense.

Gene decided to write, to put down some stories that others would enjoy as well, and so the first story "With the Fear goes the Night" came into being. He has finished writing his next book, a totally different one, with some mythology thrown in as well as well as having written two books on leadership (also available on Amazon).

His latest book "Who Did They Think They Were?" is written around Bible characters, exploring what their life story might have been if we had the full details of their background. Gene did extensive research on each person on whom he wrote, taking information from Jewish writings and various Rabbis as well.

"I wanted to identify more with these people" Gene said. "I mean, we have very basic information in the Bible because the backgrounds, life lived and with whom they interacted wasn't important to the writers back then. Yet to myself, they were fascinating details I wanted to know, and in writing this book, it made them more real to me."

In the meantime, Gene continues to speak at Conferences, Schools and other groups, encouraging people to become what they should be and to follow their passion.
