Shaun Cain

Shaun Cain was born and raised in Jamaica before emigrating to the United Kingdom (UK) where he now lives. He has been a huge fan of Reggae music for many years, and has interviewed, researched and published media programmes on some of the most famous Reggae and Dancehall stars.

He grew up listening to Reggae chart shows on the radio, especially the Eleven to Forty on the now defunct Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation, JBC, Radio One. The Top Ten Today chart show with the late John Wakeling on Radio Jamaica, (RJR) was an all-time favourite of his.

Shaun also remembers watching Music-Music on JBC Television on Saturday evenings.

Music-Music presented some of the most popular Reggae music videos. He also spent a brief period behind the microphone as a radio disc jockey, playing some of the most popular Reggae and dancehall records ever made.

Shaun is a freelance news writer for the UK edition of a popular Jamaican weekly publication.

He has also worked in the electronic media as a reporter, producer and presenter for several

years. He produced and presented the entertainment magazine programmes the Entertainment Mix and Showbeat, also on JBC Radio. During this time, he interviewed celebrated artistes including General Trees, Frisco Kid, Ghost and Culture, General Degree, Luciano, Roundhead, Balloon, Beenie Man and T.O.K at the genesis of their career.

Shaun holds postgraduate degrees in Marketing and Corporate Communication.
