Jr. Michael T. Petro

Michael T. Petro, Jr. served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. Initially he worked in naval security, and later served in the gunnery division aboard the U.S.S. Kennebec during the Vietnam War. After returning to his native state of Ohio, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Cleveland State University in 1977.

When relocating to California he earned a Master of Science Degree in Psychology in 1980 and a Master of Arts Degree in Education in 1981 from California State University at Los Angeles. Michael initially worked as an aide and counselor in psychiatric hospitals in the greater Los Angeles area. Later he worked extensively as a researcher, training coordinator, and manager at an alcohol and drug recovery program located on skid row in Los Angeles.

Before leaving California, Michael received a National Leadership Award from the National Headquarters of the Volunteers of America. The award was presented for his success in restoring operational integrity to a dysfunctional alcohol and drug recovery program and for his efforts to create drug-free zones within the skid row community.

Today, Michael works as a writer, editor, and publisher in Cleveland, Ohio. Through his company, Petro Publications (PetroPublications.com), Michael offers writing, editing, and publishing services to busy professionals who seek to publish a book, booklet, manual, or other literary works.
