Joey Welsh

Inspired by his Richard Scarry books as a child, Joey Welsh grew up teaching himself how to draw. He dreamed of becoming a cartoonist. Instead, he became an artist who paints fine-art cartoons. Motivated by a passion for reptiles, Joey created the Gekkards, a group of reptiles with a sense of humor. They have inspired him to paint hundreds of witty illustrations and write two storybooks. He has spent the last ten years cultivating their inspired world of silliness and splendor. Joey resides in the furnace of Phoenix, AZ. Although he grew up surrounded by reptiles, the Gekkards are the only ones his wife allows him keep these days.
