Allen C. Amason is a Professor of Strategic Management and Dean of the College of Business at Georgia Southern University. He earned his Ph.D. in 1993, from the University of South Carolina and was formerly Chair of the Management Department of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.
Professor Amason's expertise is in strategic decision-making and the strategy process. He has published dozens of articles and chapters in various scholarly outlets, been on numerous editorial boards, and served as Associate Editor for the Journal of Management Studies and the Journal of Management. His teaching and consulting focuses on strategic management and alignment. He is a popular speaker and has done C-level consulting with a wide variety of leading organizations.
He and his wife adopted their youngest child from Russia. It was a long and trying process and the experience prompted him to write a book recounting the story. Although the adoption was completed in 2008, he continues to maintain professional and personal relationships in the Russian Federation.
