Susan C. Turner, born in NY and raised in Miami, is the author of the acclaimed Rufus Steele adventure series. The third book in the series, Rufus Steele 1943, co-authored with Warren W. Teets (World War II veteran) and published in October 2011, was a finalist for the 2012 Foreword Book of the Year in the Juvenile Fiction category.
She also authors the Harry Douglas International Series, concentrating on international crime and suspense in the pre- and postwar periods of the 20th century. This latest series debuted in 2022 with The Truth About Otis Battersby. Book two, Mission Budapest, went on sale in 2023. Assignment in Oran, published in September 2024, is the third book in the series. All three books received noteworthy positive reviews from readers and from internationally-respected book curator Kirkus Reviews. Additional books in the series are planned.
Further, Turner is well known for her delightful picture books, including Benjamin Barley's Button and Radishes and Noodles, both of which she wrote and illustrated. Her picture book of collective nouns, entitled A Parcel of Penguins, makes a perfect addition to elementary classroom libraries. The exquisite bird photographs help children identify and appreciate the stunning beauty of birds and learn the concept and specifics of the 'collective noun'. Under the name Eve Palmer, she retells and illustrates a series of ancient folk tales, the first of which is entitled The King's Flowers. The second book in the folk tale series will be available in summer 2026.
Turner lives and writes in Tampa, Florida with her husband John, and precocious and loveable cat, Duffy. She is a member of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and The Royal Society of Literature. More information is available on her author website.
