James Lancel McElhinney

JAMES LANCEL MCELHINNEY is a visual artist, author, blogger, and fine press publisher. Since 2005 he has revived the practice of expeditionary journal-painting, exploring the history and science of landscape through mindful encounters with nature that leave no trace. A graduate of Yale, McElhinney is the recipient of grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and the National Endowment for the Arts. His works are found in the collections of the Albany Institute of History and Art, Hudson River Museum, Huntington Library, West Point Museum, Yale Beinecke Library, along with other museums and libraries. McElhinney resides in Manhattan and Champlain Valley with his wife; scholar and author Dr. Katherine E. Manthorne, and a feline named Maeve
