Thank you for visiting my page.
I teach in the Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Toledo, in Toledo, OH, USA. Since 1980 I have studied reliability design of aircraft, turbines and ocean structures. My research focuses on decision-based design of engineering systems when there is limited information. I have published two books and 100 papers. I chair the quality, reliability and robust design committee of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and am an associate editor of the International Journal of Reliability and Safety.
My friends and colleagues Zissimos Mourelatos and Vijitashwa Pandey and I wrote a new book on decisions with limited information. This book will teach you how to think clearly and make good decisions in your personal and professional lives. In addition, this will be a great textbook for courses in Probability and Statistics, Decision Analysis and Reliability Engineering.
