Debra Searle

The Official Biography

Debra Searle MVO, MBE has been awarded a first class honours degree, launched three companies, won World Championship medals for GB, presented over 40 programmes for the BBC, had two books published, become the youngest ever trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and successfully rowed solo across the Atlantic Ocean. In 2002 HM The Queen awarded Debra an MBE for her achievements, and in 2014 she was also appointed Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO). Debra’s most recent endeavour, MIX Diversity Developers, is a consultancy firm which specialises in Diversity & Inclusion, Unconscious Bias and Cultural Change.

Debra’s version

Well… that’s the formal description over and done with! The other version of my biog is much less superwoman sounding. If I had to sum it up I’d say I am a gender diversity advocate, professional adventurer, wife and mother. Much of my identity is wrapped up in the fact that I am one half of an identical twin. I’m delighted that my career now combines my two passions – gender equality and adventure. In 2015 I am leading an all-female team on an expedition to the Arctic Circle as part of a wider corporate diversity project.
