Steven I. Pfeiffer

Dr. Steven Pfeiffer is a popular speaker, consultant, and recognized authority on the mental health challenges unique to high ability kids and youth. Dr. Pfeiffer is Professor Emeritus at Florida State University, where he served as Director of Clinical Training. Previously, he was a Professor at Duke University and served as Executive Director of Duke's gifted program, Duke TIP. And before that, he was Executive Director of the Devereux Institute of Clinical Training & Research . He served in the US Navy Medical Service Corps as a Clinical Psychologist. He is author of over 200 monographs, book chapters, articles and books. His book, Essentials of Gifted Assessment (Wiley, 2015) is considered the gold standard resource on gifted assessment. His gifted rating scales, the GRS (2003) and GRS-2 (2023), published by MHS, are among the most widely researched and respected rating scales of giftedness. With post-doctoral training in family therapy at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, he is an active consultant, advisor, and coach to parents, having worked with over 2,000 families in the USA and globally.
