Christopher Bartlett

Christopher Bartlett's interest in flying started at school where he was an Air Cadet and a member of the British Interplanetary Society, at a time when believing in space flight seemed crazy to many. He completed his then obligatory two years' military service in the British Royal Air Force.

After taking a degree in Modern Chinese and Japanese at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, he became, among other things, a professional translator of Japanese scientific and technical material. He also wrote for magazines in the Far East.

His fluency and understanding of English, French, and Japanese coupled with his extensive travels in Europe, the USA, and the Far East have enabled him to see air travel and aviation from many perspectives. His book AIR CRASHES AND MIRACLE LANDINGS is a classic, retelling and explaining some sixty incidents that have helped make flying so unbelievably safe today. His latest book, PLANE CLEVER - Booking Strategies and All About Flying, covering every aspect of a flight includes a reference section with some little-known facts.
