Dr. Christopher See

Dr. Christopher See received his medical degree from the University of Cambridge (Trinity College) and trained as a junior doctor in Emergency Medicine. He developed his interest in medical education by undertaking a PGCE at the University of Edinburgh. He joined the University of Manchester as an anatomy demonstrator where he received the Excellent Teacher award.

He then undertook his Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in medical education, receiving the Swire Scholarship and Talent Development Scholarship. His thesis examined novel e-learning and game-based learning approaches for medical students. After graduation he was appointed lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine (HKU). He subsequently took up his present post as lecturer at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong where his teaching is focussed on human anatomy.

He is the principal investigator at a student-centred medical education research lab; www.mededhk.com, through which he has attracted over 1.1 milllion HK dollars in grant funding. His research interests are gamification, e-learning and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in in medical and health sciences education. In 2019 he was awarded a Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Educators (UK) for his contributions to teaching and educational research.

Dr. See has been a regular expert speaker on university admissions, with experience including being the opening speaker for the Royal Society of Medicine (UK) "Medical Careers Day", the annual EdUK Hong Kong conference on UK university admissions and British Council Hong Kong 'Medical Admissions' Seminar, as well as interviews in the South China Morning Post and other local media.

During his time in practice and education, he has authored three books for educational publisher Kogan Page, on the topics of university admissions for medicine and Oxbridge. He went on to co-author a medical textbook with his previous supervisor from Cambridge, Accident and Emergency Medicine Consultant Dr. Robert Tan, and examination books in the UKCAT and BMAT exams.

In addition to his research work, he continues to carry out science communication and public engagement activities. His featured works include being the opening speaker of TEDxYouth Hong Kong 2013, invited guest at Café Scientifique Hong Kong, winning science presenting competitions Famelab Hong Kong and Famelab International, and invited public lectures hosted yearly at the Hong Kong Science Museum.
